Hindu-Muslim Riots Claim 5 Lives in India’s Haryana

NEW DELHI: Hindu-Muslim riots have started in Haryana and according to reports reaching here at least five people including two police officials have been killed.

A group of Hindus passed through Muslim dominated area in Nuh region which is 50 kilometers away from the capital New Delhi.

“The procession was going from one temple to another but clashes broke out between the two sides which claimed lives of two police personnel besides injuring 10,” reported Krishan Kumar police spokesperson.

The riots continued between Hindus and Muslims and it went further from Nuh to Gurugram region where angry Hindu mob torched a mosque killing one and injuring another.

The locality Gurugram was earlier known as Gurgaon is a business hub and hosts many multinational companies’ offices.

Due to volatile situation, the schools and colleges are closed on Tuesday and according to police people who have burned the mosque have been identified and several of them have been arrested.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, in a post on messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has also condemned the incident in Nuh, where curfew has been in place and Internet services has been shut off.

“The guilty will not be spared at any cost, strictest action will be taken against them,” he said.
