ISLAMABAD: The Hollywood star actor Idris Elba has said that he no longer describes himself as a Black actor because the label restricts him, and an obsession with race can hinder growth and aspirations.
In a recent interview, the famous actor said that while he is a renowned member of the Black community, such separatism in Hollywood can create hurdles for entertainers.
He said that if we spent half the time not talking about the dissimilarities but the similarities between us, it would be much better for humanity and relations among humans.
Idris Elba’s popular roles
Idris Elba is very famous for his roles as DCI John Luther in the BBC crime series “Luther” and drug lord Stringer Bell in the HBO series “The Wire”.
His superhit films include “Three Thousand Years of Longing,” “Beast,” “The Suicide Squad”, and “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”
Elba said that racism was very real, but he believed that it’s only as powerful as we allow it to be.”
Elba will be featured in Netflix film, “Luther: The Fallen Sun,” on 24 February, the cinema follow-up to his wonderful crime series “Luther”.
