ISLAMABAD: Regional peace cannot be achieved without resolving the Kashmir conflict, said Dr. Sardar Muhammad Tahir Tabassum, president of the Institute of Peace and Development (INSPAD) and a leading human rights activist.
According to a press release, he said, in view of the United Nations Security Council resolutions, India will eventually be forced to hold a referendum, regardless of how long it continues to persecute the people of Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
India’s continued existence would be in jeopardy otherwise
He was talking to senior leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Chaudhry Shiraz Tahir, the President of the local Mughlia Organization. According to Dr. Sardar Muhammad Tahir Tabassum, Maqbool Butt Shaheed, Afzal Guru Shaheed, and Burhan Wani Shaheed were the icons of “freedom who sacrificed their lives in their just struggle.”
Settlement as per UN resolutions
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Shareef’s offer to India for resuming talks is a good sign and added bilateral trade should also be made conditional on Kashmir. “India must be asked to restore the special legal and constitutional status of IIOJK and end massacres and atrocities and serious human rights violations in the valley,” he said. He also urged the United Nations and other international organizations to play their role in resolving the Kashmir dispute. — APP
