NEW YORK: Hundreds of people rallied in New York’s Time Square to protest against the Israeli forces’ latest attack against the innocent Palestinians praying at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.

The protesters gathered in New York’s iconic Times Square, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans like “Free Palestine” to condemn the violent raids and demand an end to Israeli attacks.

The crowd criticized the silence of international bodies over Israel’s crimes and demanded an end to its brutal attacks on Palestinians. They also called for world support for the people of Palestine.

Placards in Times Square

The protesters carried placards inscribed with the slogans “Defend masjid Al-Aqsa” and “Hands off al-Aqsa,”. They chanted slogans like “Resistance is justified when people are colonized,” “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “There is only one solution; Intifada.” Heavily armed Israeli troops stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque’s compound on Tuesday night and fired tear gas and stun grenades in the Qibli prayer hall, where hundreds of men, children, women, and elderly people were staying overnight to pray. Some eyewitnesses also reported the firing of rubber-coated steel bullets.

Israeli troops have injured and arrested hundreds of Palestinians in attacks that have spiked since the start of the fasting month of Ramazan.

Palestinian resistance movements in the Gaza Strip have warned the regime that it would have to bear the consequences of the intensity of the violence.

Pakistan was among the states that strongly condemned the Israeli troops’ raids on the sacred mosque.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement that impunity granted to Israel had emboldened it to violate the basic human rights of the Palestinian people. He strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Palestinian worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He added that the brutal attack had violated the sanctity of the holy Ramazan.
