ISLAMABAD: The Hurriyat parties have called on international human rights organizations to take a firm stand against widespread human rights violations and state terrorism by India within the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, a leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), showed deep concern over the regular fake encounters by Indian security forces resulting in the deaths of Kashmiri youth.
He said this was a sign of frustration on the Indian government’s side, particularly by Narendra Modi-led government. He asserted that having failed to control the people’s fight for freedom and resistance, the government has resorted to violence and brutality, inflicting misery on the population by indiscriminately killing innocent young people.
A leader of the Jammu and Kashmir National Front, Sahfiq-ul-Haq, stressed the massive sacrifices by the youth of Kashmir in their relentless pursuit of freedom from Indian illegal occupation.
He criticized the current situation in the occupied territory, highlighting killings, arbitrary arrests by Indian troops and police, and the ongoing bloodshed. He argued that these actions expose the Bharatiya Janata Party government’s narrative of normalcy in IIOJK.
The leaders called the house raids a blatant act of aggression and a violation of international agreements. They asserted that the BJP Hindutva regime has failed to suppress the people’s desire for freedom and resistance despite employing various oppressive tactics.
In a joint statement, Pairwan-e-Wilayat patron Syed Sibte Shabir Qummir and Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami Chairman Fayaz Hussain Jaferi decried Indian war crimes, human rights violations, and state terrorism, which they claimed have made life unbearable for the oppressed Kashmiris.
They blamed the Modi regime for disregarding UN Security Council resolutions and attempting to silence the voices of Kashmiri people through brute force and settler colonialism.
These leaders stressed that Modi must understand that popular movements cannot be put down by repressing dissent through military persecution and that Kashmiris are steadfast in their commitment to continue fighting for victory.
They called on the international community to pressure New Delhi to allow Kashmiris to express their desires freely and expose the BJP government’s political agenda in IIOJK.
Dr. Irfan Ahmed, a leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, expressed concern about the deteriorating situation in IIOJK, citing the recent arbitrary detention of thousands of Kashmiris, mainly youth, by Indian forces.
He urged international human rights organizations to take notice of the increasing Indian state terrorism in the occupied region.
Maulana Musaib Nadvi, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Social Youth Forum, expressed grave concern over the continued detention of activists, youth, and Hurriyat leaders, including party leader Asif Ali and Umar Dar held in different Indian jails and Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Nadvi said that cases against Hurriyat leaders have been used for decades to pressure them into relinquishing their commitment to the demand for self-determination. He appealed to the global community to play their part in facilitating a peaceful solution to the longstanding Kashmir issue. —APP
