KARACHI: Cricketer Saeed Ajmal has said he hates the word ‘’English language’’, and added, “We should not be ashamed of ourselves if we cannot speak English”.
In a viral video on social media, Saeed Ajmal said, “I didn’t know English when I became a performer and became world number one. Many people asked me to speak English, but I told them it was my choice to do whatever I wanted.”
“English language not a must”
Ajmal said, “I told them to do my interview in my mother tongue as I am not ashamed.” He said that if we don’t know English, we should not be ashamed; what we are doing is being watched by the world, and a common man is not doing it.
The national cricketer said that I hate the word ‘English language’. It has been presented as if we don’t know English, we are bad, if we know English, then we are the best in the world. He said that why we are linking cricket with the English language and added, “We have our sweet mother tongue”.
