ISLAMABAD: With less than 100 days to go before the start of the mega cricket tournament, the global tour of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 began in Pakistan’s federal capital on Saturday.
On its inaugural day, the trophy was displayed at the Faisal Masjid, before travelling to the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad. Former Pakistan right-arm pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, known as the Rawalpindi Express, attended the launch ceremony.
The trophy was also showcased at Daman-e-Koh on its opening day.
Over the next nine days, the trophy will visit Murree on November 19 and Nathiagali on November 20—both popular tourist destinations. It will also be taken to Taxila and Khanpur Dam, with additional stops at schools and colleges along the way.
The tour will then head to Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi, where the trophy will be displayed at various iconic locations from November 22 to 25, before continuing on an international tour.
After concluding the Pakistan leg, the trophy will head to Afghanistan for a two-day stop, before travelling to the six other countries participating in the Champions Trophy.
The detailed schedule of the trophy tour is as follows:
26 – 28 November | Afghanistan |
10 – 13 December | Bangladesh |
15 – 22 December | South Africa |
25 December – 5 January | Australia |
6 – 11 January | New Zealand |
12 – 14 January | England |
15 – 26 January | India |
The trophy will return to Pakistan on January 27, three weeks before the scheduled start of the tournament, for a final tour of venues across the country.
The Champions Trophy— the premier ODI competition after the World Cup —will start from February 19 and will continue until March 9. Pakistan will host matches of the eight-nation event in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.
