ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that it would set up a fan park at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to allow cricket fans to enjoy the highly-anticipated T20I World Cup 2024 match between Pakistan and India. This initiative aims to bring the excitement and fervor of the match to fans who are thousands of kilometers away from the actual venue, which is in New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
The decision by the ICC will enable fans to immerse themselves in the thrill of the game and cheer for their favorite team, the Green Shirts, via a large screen at the Rawalpindi stadium on June 9. The fan park will open its gates 90 minutes before the commencement of the match and will remain accessible until an hour after the conclusion of the game.
The match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India will be broadcasted at 10 different fan parks worldwide, including venues such as Cedar Creek Park in Seaford, New York, and the Indira Gandhi Indoor Arena in New Delhi, India. The initiative underscores the ICC’s commitment to ensuring that cricket enthusiasts across the globe can participate in the excitement of major tournaments like the T20I World Cup.
In a statement released by the ICC, it was stated that a record number of fan parks will be established for the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024, with nine live sites spanning across five different countries.
The fan parks will not only feature live screenings of matches but also include various entertainment offerings such as DJs, food and beverage outlets, cricket ambassadors, and family-friendly activities.
With 22 World Cup matches set to be showcased in various locations, including New York City, New Delhi, and Rawalpindi, this edition of the T20 World Cup promises to be a truly global spectacle. The tournament, scheduled to commence on June 1, will feature matches played in the United States and the West Indies.
