ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) led by its president, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, has left for Thailand to explore business opportunities.

The delegation is representing different sectors, including textiles, construction, edible oil, pharmaceuticals, marble, hospitality, retail sector, light engineering, imports and exports.

The delegation will visit the Thailand Chamber of Commerce and Industry to hold B2B meetings with Thai counterparts and explore business collaborations with them.

In his statement before departure, Bakhtawari said that Pakistan and Thailand had immense potential to boost business ties. He said that the purpose of the ICCI delegation’s visit to Thailand is to explore all untapped areas of mutual cooperation between the two nations.

Thailand’s Exports and Imports

He said that Thailand’s annual exports in the previous were over 285 billion dollars, and imports were around 300 billion dollars, but its bilateral trade with Pakistan in 2022-23 was less than one billion dollars.

Bakhtawari said that both nations were doing trade in limited items, and there is a need to explore new sectors for trade promotion.

He said that Pakistan could export many other items to Thailand, including value-added textiles, sports items, surgical instruments, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, and food products. Likewise, Pakistan can import more products from Thailand.

He hoped that the ICCI delegation’s visit would lead to some business partnerships between the two nations.
