IESCO Arrests 3,121 Power Pilferers in November

ISLAMABAD: As part of the continuous anti-power theft and recovery initiative, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), in November, apprehended 3,121 individuals involved in power pilferage in various company circles.

IESCO Chief Dr. Muhammad Amjad revealed the details, stating that detection teams examined more than 151,000 meters in November. He said that 2,939 were found to be slow, 14 to have been tampered with, and 14 to be receiving direct, illicit electricity supplies.

Dr. Amjad further stated that a total fine of Rs 120.90 million was imposed on power thieves, with FIRs registered against 149 consumers. Additionally, law enforcement has apprehended 70 individuals involved in power pilferage.

Highlighting the broader initiative, the IESCO Chief mentioned that since September 7, 5,962 power pilferers have been arrested, and fines exceeding Rs 300.42 million have been imposed on them. He urged consumers to report power theft cases through the toll-free number 118 or the relevant SDO office.
