ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday awarded six months jail to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon for committing contempt of court, local media reported on Friday.

The court has said maintenance of public order (MPO) issued by the DC against PTI leader Shehryar Afridi was unlawful. The court, however, acquitted Saddar SP of allegations leveled against him. The IHC handed down four months sentence to SSP operations and also imposed a fine of Rs0.1 million, local media reported.

The IHC further stated that the sentence would remain suspended for a month. The court sentenced SHO Nasir Manzoor for two months and imposed a fine of Rs0.1 million on him.

The IHC further said if the sentence of DC is not suspended as a result of an appeal within one month, he should be arrested.
