ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday granted post-arrest bail to Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid in a case for allegedly making defamatory remarks against the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani approved the bail of former interior minister against surety bonds worth Rs50,000. Rashid had been held at the Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand in another case.
Rashid was accused of leveling allegations against Zardari
Rashid, a close ally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, was arrested on a police complaint filed by Raja Inayatur Rehman, the vice president of PPP Rawalpindi Division, who accused the AML chief, of levelling allegations against Zardari by saying in an interview that the PPP leader had recruited terrorists to plan Imran’s murder.
