Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) on Tuesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing of the case pertaining to by-elections in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Punjab.

The petition, filed under Article 184 sub-clause 3 of the Constitution, was accepted by the Supreme Court Registrar’s office without raising objections.

Case of emergency nature: IHCBA

As a case of an emergency, the bar requested that it be fixed for a hearing tomorrow (Wednesday).

On the other hand, the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday sought written replies from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governor and the Election Commission of Pakistan on a petition seeking the election date. The court remarked that the K-P governor did not submit a reply and asked the governor to explain why the reply was not submitted.

The hearing of the case was adjourned until Thursday.
