SRINAGAR: The High Court of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has quashed the detention of four innocent Kashmiris who were held under the repressive Public Safety Act (PSA), ordering their immediate release.

As reported by the Kashmir Media Service, a bench presided by Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul granted relief to Rashid Habib Zargar from Kupwara, Amir Ahmad Rather from Kulgam, Danish Bashir Dar from Srinagar, and Suhail Shabir Ganie from Budgam by approving separately filed habeas corpus petitions.

Zargar’s detention, dated 27th June 2022, and Rather’s detainment on April 8, 2022, were overturned. Similarly, Dar’s preventive custody from 8th March 2023 and Ganie’s booking from August 30, 2022, were also declared null and void.

The court, in its ruling, directed authorities to release the detainees from preventive custody immediately, provided they are not required in any other legal matters.
