SRINAGAR: Posters have emerged in various regions of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging residents to observe January 26, Indian Republic Day, as a Black Day.

As reported by Kashmir Media Service, India celebrates Republic Day on January 26, commemorating the adoption of its Constitution in 1950. However, these posters highlight a contradiction between the secular principles enshrined in India’s Constitution and the Hindutva ideology promoted by the current BJP government led by Narendra Modi, which aims to transform India into a Hindu state.

Issued in support of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference’s (APHC) call to mark the day as a black day, the posters have been affixed to walls, pillars, and electricity poles in Srinagar and other parts of the territory by various Hurriyat groups.

IIOJK Residents Reject Hindutva on Indian Republic Day

Describing the Republic Day celebrations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir as a mockery, the posters convey a resounding rejection of India’s illegal occupation by the people of Kashmir.

Residents are encouraged to raise black flags on their rooftops, houses, shops, pillars, and electricity poles on India’s Republic Day, symbolizing their collective message to the world that January 26 is not a day of celebration but a black day for the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

These posters, also circulating on social media platforms, call on the residents to offer special prayers for the Kashmiri martyrs on the anniversaries of the tragic events.
