IIUI Marks Defence Day, Pays Rich Tributes to Martyrs

ISLAMABAD: A ceremony was organized here at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Tuesday to pay glowing tribute to the martyrs of the country on Defense Day.

Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, attended the ceremony as the chief guest that was held in the Council Hall of the IIUI new campus.

The event was also attended by the President of the university Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, vice president, deans, senior faculty members, students, and other relevant officials.  

Dr. Mukhtar said that on 6 September 1965, our brave military crushed the enemy. The special feature of the 1965 war was the spirit of ideal love for the Pakistan Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan.

He said today, there is a crucial need to awaken and re-energize that spirit again.

Nation Proud of Martyrs

He said we are proud of the brave sons of the soil, particularly the martyrs who laid down their precious lives but did not let the enemy move an inch to fulfill its nefarious designs. The day exudes the spirit of sacrifice and unity in the defense of our motherland.

Emphasizing the need for unity, he said these are high times to stand with each other and rise as a united nation. 

He added that a large number of martyrs have sacrificed their precious lives to give us a safe and free homeland. Let be united in honoring their cause.

Addressing the youth, the chairman said our youth must recognize the forefathers and the martyrs’ sacrifices. He called upon the academicians to inculcate the love of homeland in the minds and hearts of students and let them know about the history of our brave heroes.
