LONDON: Pakistan’s star all-rounder Imad Wasim has expressed concerns about Pakistan’s inability to dominate the middle overs, emphasizing the importance of preventing bowlers from settling into a rhythm.

While talking in the post-match press conference, Imad stressed that displaying intent of Pakistani batters does not necessarily equate to aggressive batting but rather to confidence in dictating the game’s tempo and upsetting the opposition.

Pakistan team suffered a 23-run defeat against England in the second T20 International (T20I) match in Birmingham. Pakistan side was bowled out for 160 while chasing a target of 184 runs.

Imad Wasim questioned the team’s batting intent during the crucial middle overs. He said Pakistan’s batters need to dominate the middle overs, not necessarily by playing aggressively but by preventing bowlers from settling.

Imad, who batted at No. 8 in the match, alongside Iftikhar Ahmed, managed to add 40 runs quickly before both players fell at crucial junctures. Imad lamented the missed opportunity to stay longer at the crease, believing that their presence could have potentially changed the game’s outcome in Pakistan’s favor.

Acknowledging his role as an all-rounder, Imad reiterated his readiness to bowl at any stage of the match as required by the team, whether with the new ball or in the death overs. He affirmed his commitment to giving his best for the team’s cause, emphasizing adaptability to varying match conditions.

Imad highlighted the importance of finalizing the team’s combination and learning from past mistakes to perform better. He emphasized the need for tangible improvements rather than mere verbal assurances.
