IMF Mission Chief to Arrive in Pakistan Next Week for Bailout Talks

ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Resident Representative for Pakistan Esther Perez Ruiz on Sunday confirmed that the mission will be holding talks with Pakistani officials to discuss the “next phase of engagement” in the coming week.

Esther Perez Ruiz said in a statement that a mission team led by IMF’s Mission Chief to Pakistan Nathan Porter will meet with Pakistani officials next week to discuss the next phase of engagement. “A mission team led by Nathan Porter, IMF’s Mission Chief to Pakistan, will meet with Pakistani authorities next week to discuss the next phase of engagement,” the IMF’s Resident Representative stated.

She stated that the objective of the talks is to “lay the foundation for better governance and stronger, more inclusive, and resilient economic growth that will benefit all Pakistanis”.

Her remarks come after an IMF support team reached Pakistan to hold talks regarding the country’s request for a fresh bailout package under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) on Friday.
