IMF Mission Meets Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Discuss Economic Reforms

ISLAMABAD:  The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) visiting mission on Thursday met with Pakistan Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb for final review of the $3 billion short-term financing program. The meeting held at the Ministry of Finance.

The purpose of the IMF mission’s visit to Pakistan is to conduct the second review of the Stand-by Arrangement (SBA).

the Federal Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb welcomed to the IMF mission and reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating with the IMF on the reform agenda aimed at promoting economic growth and stability in Pakistan.

The head of the IMF mission, Nathan Porter, congratulated Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb on his appointment as Finance and Revenue minister

During the meeting, they discussed various aspects including overall macro-economic indicators, the government’s initiatives towards fiscal consolidation, structural reforms, the viability of the energy sector, and governance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

The Federal Minister expressed gratitude to the IMF for their ongoing support and expressed optimism for fruitful discussions during the second review of the Stand-by Arrangement (SBA).
