IMO Secretary General to Undertake Pakistan Visit From Sept 12-14

ISLAMABAD: The Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Antonio Dominguez Velasco, will undertake an official to visit Pakistan from 12-14 September 2024, a press release issued by the Foreign Office on Wednesday said.

It said this would be the first-ever visit by a Secretary General of the IMO to Pakistan.

Secretary General Velasco will attend the “International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference” and is expected to hold meetings with senior Pakistani leaders and senior government officials.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit will provide an opportunity for Pakistan and IMO to exchange views on the maritime sector and blue economy.

It said as a founding member of IMO, Pakistan is committed to IMO’s vision of secure, safe and efficient shipping on clean oceans. Pakistan has served the IMO Council for five terms and has consistently contributed to upholding the objectives of the IMO.
