LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday approved Omar Sarfraz Cheema to be appointment as advisor to Chief Minister of Punjab on home affairs, a local television channel reported.
The decision to give the new responsibility to former Governor Punjab, Sarfraz Cheema was taken after the resignation of Col (retd) Hashim Dogar on Tuesday.
Dogar had tendered his resignation citing inevitable circumstances and personal reasons; however, some media channels claimed that he was forced to resign due to his differences with the party top leadership. The main reason behind these differences was his statement regarding the Punjab government not extending its support to Khan’s long march call for Islamabad.
