LAHORE: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has called for an administrative government to be set up in Punjab to hold the upcoming general elections within 90 days.

In an informal conversation, Khan stated that failure to do so would be a clear violation of the Constitution.

Khan criticized the caretaker government for failing to carry out their primary responsibility of organizing the elections and claimed that they were involved in activities against the opposition as part of a plan hatched in London to target the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.

The PTI chairman also accused former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa of running a campaign against his party as he wanted an extension.

Khan claimed that during PTI’s tenure, Pakistan had friendly relations with China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Donald Trump, and Boris Johnson, but the opposition parties were being treated differently.

Khan further added that if the State Bank of Pakistan failed to release funds for the elections, it would violate the Constitution. He also criticized the arrests of PTI workers nationwide, stating that they were first abducted and then charged with crimes.

In light of these developments, Khan demanded removing the caretaker government and establishing an administrative setup to hold the elections within the constitutionally mandated 90-day period.

Khan emphasized the need for free and fair elections in Punjab and called on all relevant authorities to ensure that the democratic process was not undermined.

Khan’s demand for an administrative government and his criticism of the caretaker government and the opposition parties highlight the political tensions in Pakistan ahead of the upcoming elections.
