ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the leadership of his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to expand the existing Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Ayin-e-Pakistan (TTAP) platform into a “grand opposition alliance.”

Currently, TTAP includes PTI, the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, and the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M). PTI wanted to include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami to bolster the opposition movement against the government.

Addressing the media outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where he met with PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan and other party members, Qaiser revealed plans to gather opposition parties for a powerful anti-government movement. The forthcoming PTI rally in Swabi aims to amplify demands for Khan’s release and other detained leaders.

Qaiser criticized the current government’s handling of soaring electricity bills, labeling them “unacceptable” for the financially strained population. He also expressed support for Jamaat-e-Islami’s ongoing protest against rising power costs.

During the press conference, Qaiser condemned the government’s attempts to drive a wedge between the military and the nation, asserting that PTI remains committed to legal battles for Imran Khan’s release and criticizing recent rulings and detentions.

PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan announced plans to mobilize mass participation in the Swabi event, stressing the party’s solidarity with Imran Khan and asserting the need for justice in the face of political and legal challenges.
