LAHORE: Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar resigned from his post on Tuesday due to personal reasons as per his statement although reports indicate there were differences and anger against him within the party because former premier and chairman of Dagar’s party Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan wasn’t pleased with him.

Dogar said few days ago that the Punjab government would not support Imran Khan’s proposal for a long march to Islamabad which drew a stern rebuke from Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi and criticism from leadership of PTI

In going further into th3 matter, Geo News reported that former premier Imran Khan made a telephonic call to Hashim Dogar and requested him to resign as home minister. The channel further reported that Imran Khan was getting the news that Dogar did not participate in preventing the movement of containers to Islamabad to block PTI’s long march because the former minister belongs to the unit of a high official of the establishment and often meets him.

The PTI leadership also has the view that Dogar failed to prosecute police officers who used “worst torture” on PTI members during the May 25 long march and that the Punjab government would guard the upcoming long march of PTI march but would not participate in it.
