LAHORE: Former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan has criticized Punjab police for conducting a search operation at his Zaman Park house in Lahore, adding he is “immediately” knocking on the door of the court against the actions for “violating the sanctity of his house” and resorting to “violence” against PTI workers.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Imran Khan said the police’s “attack” on his home was a contempt of court. Imran Khan said that they had agreed that an SP [superintendent of police] with one of their people would executive a search warrant because “we knew otherwise they would plant stuff on their own, which they did,”.

Reacting to the police action at Zaman Park, Imran Khan asked, “Under what law did police break the gate and pull-down trees in his house. Worse, the police did this following I left to present myself before the court, and Bushra bibi, a non-political person, was alone in house. This is a complete violation of the Islamic principle of sanctity of chadar and char diwari.”

Imran Khan announced “immediately” taking up the violation of the sanctity of his house, the violence against PTI’s workers, his staff and contempt matter with judiciary.

Earlier, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar claimed that arms were recovered during today’s search operation at Imran Khan’s house in Lahore.

The Punjab IGP told reporters during a press conference, flanked by caretaker Punjab Information Minister Amir Mir, “We have recovered arms from Khan’s home. There are more weapons present there. An impression was being given that it was a no-go area in Lahore, but we have cleared the area,”
