LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan met with German Ambassador Alfred Grannas on Sunday to discuss bilateral issues and mutual interests. During the meeting, Imran Khan highlighted the “human rights violations” being carried out in Pakistan.

In a statement released on PTI’s official Twitter handle, it was stated that the two personalities also discussed the negative impact of deviation from the Constitution on democracy, with Ambassador Grannas highlighting the implications for Pakistan’s GSP Plus status.

Imran Khan emphasized the importance of democracy and fundamental rights, stating that his party is fully committed to the supremacy of the Constitution and the promotion of democracy. He added that PTI believes in the people being the source of power in national decision-making, in accordance with the Constitution.

Imran Khan expresses concern over current political crisis

Imran Khan has expressed concerns about the current political crisis in the country. He accused the incumbent government of deviating from the Constitution and democracy and highlighted the serious consequences of such actions.

According to Khan, the government is depriving people of their right to vote through extra-constitutional measures that go against the purpose of democracy. He also pointed out that illegal caretaker governments are still in place in Punjab and Pakhtunkhwa, despite the 90-day constitutional period.

The PTI Chairman believes that the insistence on the continuation of power as a result of clear deviation from the Constitution is making the political crisis in the country serious and complicated. The situation is also directly causing unimaginable damage to the country’s economy.

Furthermore, Khan highlighted the violation of basic human rights, extra-constitutional and legal measures, and restrictions on constitutional freedoms, which have become a norm of governance in Pakistan.

He also condemned the filing of false cases of treason and sedition against those who insist on peaceful protest, legal election campaigns, and freedom of expression.
