QUETTA: National Party Mengal’s Balochistan Assembly member Sana Baloch has held former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan responsible for all crises and malaise facing the country today.
“There is no political instability in the country because of Imran Khan. Khan in his speeches does not talk about improving the economy, the supremacy of the constitution, implementation of human rights, or promotion of education or harmony among all federating units, but he only talks about his personal interest,” the Baloch leader said in an exclusive interview with We News.
According to Sana Baloch, the name of Imran Khan’s party was Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and not “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Ehtisab”. Khan raised the baton of accountability in the initial years of his government but failed to provide accountability. Imran Khan did not even know what he did in the three years of his tenure.”
In response to a question, Sana Baloch said that the political conflict that is going on in the country would not benefit anyone. He said that even “if elections are held soon, Imran Khan does not have any plan to run the country. Imran Khan is responsible for all the crises.”
In response to a question, Sana Baloch said, “In August 2018, our party had an agreement with the Imran Khan government, under which we supported him for the prime ministership slot, and later in the Senate, including the provincial and federal assemblies, and for the presidency. Balochistan can never prosper until there is an atmosphere of peace and the rule of law.”
Sana Baloch said, “Our vision was to explain to Imran Khan that there is a crisis of human rights in Balochistan and instability in the society.” Apart from this, Balochistan has a plethora of political problems. People don’t have control over their own resources. There is no personal freedom here. There is an atmosphere of suffocation in the province. This problem of Balochistan has been going on for 50 to 60 years, so we had joined hands with the PTI government to do away with these problems.”
He said: “At that time, we thought that the PTI had come with a new vision and it would work with us regarding the problems of Pakistan and Balochistan.”
Sana Baloch said, “Except for one point in the agreement clinched with Imran Khan, which was the missing persons’ issue, no other matter was implemented. He said that 500 to 600 missing people returned home.
“We had already walked out of alliance with Imran Khan before the no-confidence motion against him,” he explained.
Sana Baloch believes the PDM government is fragile compared to the Imran Khan’s government. Because of the political instability, the Balochistan issue has been put on the back burner once again.
Sana Baloch says, “In the first meeting between Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Shahbaz Sharif, they discussed the missing persons’ issue, and the latter expressed resolve to solve the issue but “good faith alone is not enough to solve all the problems.”
