ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, has expressed his willingness to hold talks on elections. However, he reiterated that he would not negotiate with the ‘corrupts’ and ‘thieves’.

In an interview, Imran Khan said that talks would only be held on elections, and if elections are not held, there is no need for talks.

He also alleged that PTI seats were deliberately decreased in the 2018 general elections.

Imran Khan further said that if elections are not held now, the chances for elections in October are less.

He added that he has no contacts with anyone for negotiations, but he is ready for talks on elections.

The former prime minister also lashed out at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mohammad Nawaz Sharif for making undue and baseless statements against the Supreme Court of Pakistan bench hearing the election delay case.

Khan claimed that it is Sharif’s hobby to divide the Supreme Court for his personal gains. He maintained that the whole nation stands firmly united with the Supreme Court.

Imran Khan asks nation to unite for supremacy of Constitution

Earlier, Imran Khan appealed to the nation to stand firmly united for the supremacy of the Constitution in the country.

Addressing PTI supporters and workers via video link, he warned that the country would not be able to survive if the nation did not stand for the supremacy of the Constitution.

The statement from Imran Khan comes amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan, as the opposition parties have been staging protests against the government for the delay in elections.

The government has cited the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the delay, while the opposition parties have accused the ruling party of attempting to cling to power.
