ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hassaan Niazi and his ‘accomplices’ have been booked in a separate case in the port city of Karachi for inciting people to revolt against the national institutions, local media reported on Monday.

According to ARY News, the case has been lodged on the complaint of a citizen, Muhammad Iqbal in the Jamshaid Quarters police station here. According to the FIR, Hassaan Khan Niazi was involved in inciting people to revolt against the national institutions and attempted to provoke disharmony in a video available on social media.

The statement has created distress and anger among the masses, said the FIR further. According to the new outlet, a team of Karachi East police will leave for Islamabad and Lahore to arrest Hasaan Niazi in the case.

On Sunday, a district and sessions court in Quetta handed over the nephew of former prime minister Imran Khan, Barrister Hassaan Khan Niazi, to Punjab police on a one-day transit remand.

Judicial Magistrate Kaleemullah granted one-day transit remand of the PTI leader Hassaan Niazi. ARY News quoted sources saying that a delegation of Lahore police was present in Quetta for the custody of Hassaan Niazi.

On March 20, Islamabad police have arrested Imran Khan’s nephew Hassaan Khan Niazi for ‘misbehaving with police’. Niazi was arrested from outside an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Monday. He was arrested for “misbehaving with the police and resisting” at a checkpost, police sources said.

Hassaan Niazi’s arrest

Niazi’s arrest came after his appearance at the ATC where a hearing of cases registered at Islamabad’s Ramna police station against the PTI leaders and workers was being held.

Meanwhile, Advocate Faisal Chaudhry of the PTI filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court for the release of the PTI leader.

The PTI claimed that Khan’s focal person on legal affairs has been “abducted” by Superintendent of Police Nosherwan Ali Chandio, despite securing bail on all cases registered against him. “It is the peak of police brutality. Hassaan Niazi, a lawyer whose bail was just approved by the court, has been abducted,” the party tweeted.

The Balochistan police team took Hassaan Niazi’s custody from outside the Judicial Complex here and transferred him to Quetta. On March 18, the Quetta Airport police filed a case against Hassaan Niazi on charges of inciting violence and interfering with police affairs. The complaint was lodged by Inspector Abdullah.

The complaint stated that while on patrol, the sub-inspector received information that 150 people, including Inayatullah Kakar and others, had blocked Chaman Road in Quetta. It should be noted that Hassaan Khan Niazi was not named in the FIR by the Quetta police.
