According to the Presidency of Uzbekistan website, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidential candidate of Uzbekistan, voted in 59 ballot boxes in Tashkent at 10:00 am local time.
Mirziyoyev, grandfather now, is seen casting vote with his wife, children and grandchild.
Uzbekistan holds parliamentary elections on Sunday. Voting will take place between 08:00 and 20:00 local time.
In total, approximately 10,800 stations have been built, 56 of which are abroad.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law calling for early elections on 8 May. This was the first election since the constitutional amendment extended the president’s term from five to seven years. The amendment also allows President Mirziyoyev to run for a third term.
Three candidates, including Ecology Party leader Mirziyoyev, Peoples’ Democratic Party leader Ulugbek Inoyatov and the first president of the Supreme Court Roh, as well as Bahun Mahmudova, participated in the election hike.
