KARNATAKA, India: A fatal road accident occurred on National Highway 44 in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur, claiming the lives of at least 12 individuals.
The collision occurred when a car and an SUV collided with a stationary truck along the Bangalore-Hyderabad NH44.
The unfortunate victims were en-route from Bagepalli to Chikkaballapur when the accident unfolded, according to statements from the Bagepalli traffic police. News agency PTI, citing reliable sources, reported that among the 12 casualties, including four women, there was one person critically injured, currently receiving medical care at a nearby hospital.

While a comprehensive investigation into the precise cause of the accident is ongoing, preliminary findings indicate that reduced visibility due to fog played a significant role. Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police, DL Nagesh, was quoted by PTI expressing these initial insights.
In a separate and equally tragic incident in Karnataka, three differently-abled children, including two siblings, were tragically struck by a suburban train near Urapakkam on the city’s outskirts on Tuesday, October 24.
