ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has urgently called on the United Nations to intervene and hold India accountable for its actions in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas condemned the Indian occupation regime for its treatment of Kashmiris, including torture, property seizures, and suppression of their right to self-determination through relentless cordon-and-search operations and house raids.
Minhas asserted that Indian personnel—including paramilitary forces, police, and investigative agencies—are terrorizing Kashmiris to stifle their legitimate demand for self-rule. He highlighted the BJP regime’s exploitation of the judiciary to intimidate those advocating for freedom, targeting Hurriyat leaders, journalists, scholars, and ordinary citizens with fabricated cases.
Kashmiris committed to the freedom struggle are being charged under oppressive laws for their political beliefs and calls for a plebiscite. Despite facing brutal repression, the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their pursuit of freedom.
Minhas urged the United Nations to fulfill its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, to prevent a catastrophe similar to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East due to the unresolved Palestinian issue.
He criticized New Delhi for using its agencies as tools of terror against Kashmiris and for leveraging the judiciary to intimidate freedom-loving individuals. Hurriyat leaders, media personnel, religious scholars, and even ordinary citizens are being implicated in false cases, he noted.
The spokesman reiterated that despite the harsh realities they face, Kashmiris remain determined to fight for their freedom and urged international human rights organizations to take notice of the unlawful detentions occurring in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
