NEW DELHI: A civilian was killed and ten others wounded when heavy clashes took place between the angry mob and Indian security personnel at Khangabok in Thoubal, Manipur on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that clashes took place between the angry villagers and the security forces in Thoubal district at around 10 am.

As per local media reports IRB, BSF and Thoubal commando forces fired tear gas, shells and guns against the mob at around 11:30 am. Reports said that one civilian was killed and ten others injured during the clashes in the region.
After the death of the civilians, the protestors later set ablaze the home of the IRB personnel at Samaram Mayai Leikai at around 3:30 pm. People in the region strongly denounced the CM for his failure to stop the prevailing unrest in Manipur. Earlier, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) in India’s northeast state of Manipur rejected any dialogue offer with the state’s Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh.
The ITLF said in a statement that the chief minister’s stated intention of reaching out to stakeholders after a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah comes too late after the loss of so many precious lives and properties and the extreme difficulties faced by the Kuki-Zo tribesmen.
The leaders said that there was no point in talking about peace without a political solution, Indian media reported. More than hundred people have been killed in ethnic violence and clashes in the troubled Manipur state of India since May 3. Media reported that thousands of homes have been destroyed and burned while businesses and shops vandalized in the recent wave of violence in the region.
The wave of violence started last month following protest demonstrations demanding basic rights by Kukis and members of Christian communities in Manipur.
