NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur State Council has strongly criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his biased approach while remaining silent on the violence in India’s violence-hit Manipur region.

CPI State Council executive member RK Amusana told the media that the entire world condemns the barbaric act against the women in Manipur, Modi’s attitude and press statement display his complete disregard for the violence in Manipur.

RK Amusana said the people of Manipur have demanded the most severe punishment for the culprits, but was Modi blind when brutal acts were committed against innocent women, or was too distasteful for his politics?

The horrific video of the naked women was widely shared on social media in India a few days ago.

As per media reports, people across the world including is in extreme anger and strong feeling of unhappiness after a mob paraded naked two women in the violence-hit northeastern state of Manipur.

The police said they have opened a case of gang rape and have arrested a man, adding that others will also be held soon after a video showed two women being paraded naked by a mob.

Manipur state has been badly hit by violence and at least 130 have been killed and 60,000 have been displaced since ethnic clashes started between the Meitei and Kuki communities in May. It shows them being dragged and groped by a mob of men who then pushed them into a field.
