SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has accused India of utilizing military force to quell the Kashmiri people’s legitimate demand for the right to self-determination, a right enshrined in multiple UN Security Council resolutions.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, the APHC spokesperson labelled the Kashmir issue as a political and human matter, recognized by the UN, and criticized India’s avoidance of a political resolution, revealing what it called an imperialistic mindset in occupied Kashmir.

Highlighting the BJP-led Hindutva Indian government’s actions, the spokesperson lamented the use of force by the Indian Army and police to suppress political and social activities in occupied Kashmir. The statement pointed out that this suppression has resulted in the martyrdom of over half a million Kashmiris, with thousands illegally detained, tortured, subjected to enforced disappearance, and numerous women widowed and children orphaned in an attempt to stifle the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.

Expressing serious concern over the escalating arrests, relentless cordon and search operations, house raids, and property seizures in the region, the spokesperson called on the UN to intervene for an early resolution of the Kashmir dispute. The APHC emphasized the need for UN intervention to ensure lasting peace in the region.

The statement underscores the urgency of international attention to address the human rights violations and political tensions in Kashmir, amplifying the call for a peaceful resolution that respects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
