Wedding firing in Indian states
Celebratory fire during weddings is common in some northern Indian states and often causes wounded and accidental deaths.
According to the law of India, anyone who uses a firearm “in a rash and negligent manner and celebratory gunfire, ” putting others in danger, could face a jail term, a fine, and both. In 2016, the Uttar Pradesh court ordered that every celebratory gun firing case should be investigated regardless of whether the police complaint had been filed.
According to Times of India, the video of the bride was made by a relative, who posted it on social media.
Indian Police told the paper the woman was “absconding” because she feared arrest. Previous week, the viral video from the western state of Maharashtra showed the sparkle gun backfiring in a bride’s face while she and her dear husband were posing with it for wedding photos.
