NEW DELHI: India’s wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has expressed his excitement about the prospect of playing in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, despite uncertainty about India’s participation in the tournament. The eight-team tournament is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from February to March next year.
Kuldeep Yadav, speaking at a recent event in Australia, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to visit Pakistan, a country he has never played in before. “As cricketers, we will play wherever we are sent. I have never been to Pakistan before, so I am excited. The Pakistani people are great, and whenever we get the chance, we will definitely go and play there,” said the 29-year-old spinner.
The participation of the Indian team in the Champions Trophy is still under consideration, with the final decision pending approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian government. The BCCI has stated that the government will have the final say on whether the national team will travel to Pakistan.
Earlier this month, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah addressed the possibility of India’s participation in the Champions Trophy in an interview with Indian media. Shah confirmed that no final decision has been made yet.
“No decision has been finalized,” he said, stressing that the BCCI would evaluate the situation thoroughly before making a decision. “No stand as of now. We will cross the bridge when it comes,” Shah added.
For the Champions Trophy 2025, India has been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B will feature Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan.
