Indonesian Armed Forces Day Celebrated in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A ceremony was held in Islamabad on Wednesday to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the Indonesian Armed Forces.

Air Marshal Shakil Ghazanfar, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff was the chief guest on the occasion.

Chargé D’affaires of Indonesia in Pakistan Ferry J. Murdiansyah, while addressing the guests, highlighted the achievements of the Indonesian Armed Forces.

He said the Indonesian armed forces have contributed significantly to protecting the sovereignty and stability of the country. He said that the Indonesian army united the nation and successfully addressed current conventional and non-conventional challenges.

He said Indonesian-Pakistani ties can be traced back to anti-colonial efforts under leaders like President Sukarno and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He added Indonesian Armed Forces have played a significant role in developing strong military cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan.

Attendees on the occasion also observed a minute of silence to honor lives lost in the occupied territory of Palestine.
