BEIJING: Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, highlighted the priority areas for cooperation in the next phase of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

During an interview with the Global Times in Beijing, Ahsan Iqbal, who accompanied Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his recent five-day visit to China, stressed that the next phase of CPEC collaboration would prioritize industry, agriculture, and information technology.

Iqbal underscored CPEC’s significance as a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing the strategic importance of these sectors for both countries in the second phase of the project.

Pointing to the recent successful launch of a Pakistani satellite into space via a Chinese rocket, Iqbal cited this achievement as evidence of the deepening cooperation between Pakistan and China.

He remarked on the evolving nature of their partnership, stating that from traditionally being compared to the towering Himalayas, the collaboration has now extended to space technology, reaching heights beyond terrestrial boundaries.
