Interim Government to ‘Completely Cooperate’ with ECP on Transparent Election: Pakistan Minister

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interim Information Minister Murtaza Solangi said on Friday that the caretaker government was committed to providing “complete cooperation” to the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold transparent and impartial polls in the South Asian country.

Addressing a post-cabinet meeting news conference, he began by affirming the commitment of the interim government to address the country’s challenges determinedly, alongside its devotion to uphold the principles of “free and fair” polls.

Furthermore, the caretaker Information Minister shared that PM Kakar engaged in talks with each caretaker minister concerning their respective portfolios. Emphasizing the significance of economic matters, the interim Prime Minister underlined that the caretaker setup would prioritize them.

“Prime Minister Kakar has also affirmed that the issue of Kashmir is intrinsic to our identity, and we cannot afford to overlook it, nor do we intend to do so,” Solang maintained.

About the Jaranwala incident, the Minister conveyed that during the cabinet meeting, PM Kakar affirmed that all citizens of the country possess equal rights. Solang also highlighted that no sect would be subjected to inequality and injustice.

The Minister quoted Kakar as expressing, “We are committed to stopping the disrespect of anyone. The state stands with the oppressed people.

He told the media that the caretaker prime minister had constituted an economic restoration committee comprising representatives from the Ministries of Trade, Finance, the Investment Facilitation Council, and other pertinent departments. He further said that the committee will supervise the economic restoration process in the country.
