Interior Minister Briefs PM Shehbaz on Law and Order Situation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said no one would be allowed to destabilize the country’s economy, and all the upcoming international events in the country would proceed according to the schedule.

The Prime Minister said this during a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi who called on him on Sunday. The meeting took place in Lahore, where Naqvi updated the prime minister on the current law and order situation in the country.

PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that no individual or group would be allowed to destabilize the economy, asserting that all upcoming international events scheduled to take place in Pakistan would proceed as planned.

He remarked, “The situation is rapidly returning to normalcy, and the development of the economy and the nation’s prosperity are the top priorities of my government.”

The prime minister expressed concern that political opponents are struggling to accept the improvements in Pakistan’s economy. He highlighted that the world is beginning to recognize Pakistan’s economic policies, while opponents aim to hinder the nation’s progress.

Reassuring the public about security measures, PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that the government is dedicated to implementing the highest standards of safety. He praised the interior minister, the Islamabad administration, and the Islamabad Police for their effective efforts in maintaining law and order in the federal capital.

The prime minister also paid tribute to martyred police constable Hameed Shah, who lost his life while safeguarding the community. He stated, “The nation will always remember this sacrifice,” and expressed his condolences to Shah’s family, directing authorities to support them during this difficult time.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the prime minister on significant developments, including the reopening of major roads for traffic and the repatriation of 56 Pakistani prisoners from Sri Lanka, who are set to arrive in the country soon.

The interior minister informed the prime minister that Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan would cover all expenses related to the prisoners’ return.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised both Naqvi and Khan for their efforts in facilitating the return of the prisoners, reflecting his government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of Pakistani citizens both domestically and abroad.
