ISLAMABAD: The International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC) hosted a notable event for the Diplomatic Mission of the African Region in Islamabad Thursday.
The gathering included a courtesy call followed by a working lunch, with diplomats from Morocco, Sudan, Ethiopia, Libya, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya in attendance.
Senator Sitara Ayaz, Secretary General of IPC, warmly welcomed the guests and provided an insightful briefing on the IPC’s mission, objectives, and activities. She emphasized IPC’s strong engagement with African Parliamentarians and its commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation with African countries.
“We are eager to enhance these ties and explore new avenues of cooperation through your esteemed offices. Our goal is to work closely with our African counterparts to address common challenges and promote mutual development,” stated Senator Ayaz.
Ambassador Muhammad Tayyab Azam, Special Advisor of IPC for the African Region, also shared his perspectives on fortifying the partnership between IPC and African nations. He highlighted the importance of diplomatic engagement and the potential for collaborative efforts in governance, economic development, and social progress.
The African diplomats expressed their appreciation for IPC’s initiatives and reiterated their commitment to fostering closer ties.
The event concluded with a productive discussion, marking a significant step towards enhanced cooperation between IPC and the African region.
