IPP Bags NA-88, PTI-backed Independent Wins PK-90 After Re-polling

ISLAMABAD: Following re-polling in key constituencies on Thursday, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) secured victory in NA-88 Khushab, while a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidate emerged victorious in PK-90 Kohat.

According to unofficial results, IPP’s Gul Asghar clinched victory in NA-88 Khushab after re-polling across 26 polling stations. Asghar secured 87,205 votes, surpassing independent candidate Moazzam Sher, who received 70,186 votes. PTI-backed Akram Niazi trailed behind, securing the third position with 58,301 votes. The Election Commission of Pakistan ordered the re-polling following incidents of violence that led to the burning of ballot papers on the initial polling day on February 8.

Meanwhile, in PK-90 Kohat, independent candidate Aftab Alam, supported by PTI, emerged victorious after re-polling in select polling stations. Alam secured 45,917 votes, while Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Amjad Afridi bagged 34,364 votes.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar secured victory in PS-18 Ghotki after re-polling at two polling stations. Dahar garnered 1,592 votes, surpassing PPP’s Shahryar Khan Shar, who received 973 votes.
