Iran Confirms Release of Americans in Prisoner Swap Deal

New York: Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has confirmed the release of five Americans detained in the country in exchange for the release of five Iranian citizens held in the United States, state media reported on Tuesday.

Under a prisoner swap settlement between Iran and the US the five Iranian nationals who were held in the US for evading Washington’s anti-Iran sanctions will be freed.

According to the mission, the detained Iranian nationals are: Amin Hassanzadeh , Kambiz Attar-Kashani, Kaveh Lotfollah Afrasyabi, Mehrdad Moein Ansari and Reza Sarhangpour Kafrani.

Earlier Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that the prisoner swap deal between Iran and the US will be finalized in due time.

He further said that the American detainees were healthy and would be returning home very soon.
