Islamabad: The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam has expressed deep gratitude to the Pakistani Navy for safely rescuing 23 Iranian fishermen caught in an accident in the open sea.
“I extend my sincere appreciations to Pakistan Navy for the active and conscientious response to the distress call of assistance form a fishing boat and safely rescuing 23 Iranian fishermen caught in an accident in the open sea,” said the ambassador in a statement on social media platform X on Friday.
He said Iran and Pakistan have close mutual support and cooperation in the Rescue and Humanitarian Assistance Operations at the International waters. “I recollect gratefully that in March 2024 Pakistan Navy rescued 8 fishermen caught in fire,” he said.
He added that Iran and Pakistan have always remained committed to stand by each other in hard times during the history of the two brotherly countries.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Navy Ship PNS Zulfiqar rescued 23 Iranian fishermen in the open sea. ISPR in a statement said PNS Zulfikar received an emergency call from Iranian fisherman boat ‘Al Mohammadi’ while on regional maritime security patrol.

It said the Iranian boat informed that it was 1200 nautical miles from its port, with one crew member severely wounded and engine failure.
The crew of PNS Zulfikar immediately repaired the engine while providing medical and technical assistance to the fishermen. The ISPR said that the ships of the Pakistan Navy rescue the distressed vessels at sea during patrolling.
