TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana’ani has strongly condemned Israeli settlers’ desecration of the Holy Qur’an and a mosque in the occupied West Bank, saying the heinous acts show that the Zionist regime has no limits when it comes to insulting religious sanctities and violating human rights.

Kana’ani made the remarks in a tweet after a group of Israeli settlers assaulted the town of Urif in the northern West Bank, south of Nablus. After forcing their way inside a nearby mosque, the attackers vandalized it before ripping the pages of a copy of the Muslim holy book and throwing it into the street.

According to the Iranian diplomat, such sacrilege, as well as Zionist destruction of Palestinian-owned structures and daily carnage of defenseless Palestinians, including women and children, “shows that the bogus [Israeli] regime recognizes no redlines in transgression upon and violation of religious sanctities and human rights.” The spokesperson said the Western governments’ silence and continuous backing [for the Zionists] empowered them in their cruelty.

In recent days, the Israeli military or armed Israeli settlers have killed over a dozen Palestinians. This week, Israeli settlers have also rampaged through many Palestinian communities in the West Bank, torching cars, setting fire to agriculture, and vandalizing homes. Iran identifies Israel as the main source of the region’s insecurity and instability but emphasizes that Israel’s US-backed barbarism will not change the regime’s fate.

According to Tehran, the apartheid regime’s history is filled with assassinations, massacres, torture, and killings of Palestinian children, and the Tel Aviv regime’s atrocities and massacres of Palestinian women and children are evidence of Zionist destituteness. According to Iranian officials, the Tel Aviv regime has been fighting for more than 70 years to overcome its identity crises, which have been accompanied by genocide, pillaging, forced displacement, and a slew of other terrible moves.

The regime has become more violent since Benjamin Netanyahu’s return to power as a far-right coalition cabinet leader last year. International calls for calm have been made in response to the escalating violence, with the European Union asking for an immediate cease-fire in early April; Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, said that internal problems within the Israeli regime had expedited the collapse of the Zionists, causing it to occur even before the 25-year deadline he had previously indicated.
