Iran, Turkmenistan Ink Four Cooperation Documents

TEHRAN: Iranian and Turkmen officials on Wednesday signed four cooperation documents in the presence of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and visiting national leader of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Tehran.

Iranian President Pezeshkian also held a joint press conference with Gurbanguly Mälikgulyýewiç Berdimuhamedow, the Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan in Tehran.

At the joint press conference, Berdimuhamedow, who is considered to be the national leader of Turkmenistan, said “We seek to expand ties with Tehran.” On the occasion, he also extended an invitation to the Iranian president to visit his country.

Berdimuhamedow further said that the Joint Economic Commission will pursue the implementation of the agreements reached between the two friendly states.

Pezeshkian expressing his views said he had a good and constructive meeting with the national leader of Turkmenistan.

The Iranian president went on to say strategic agreements were signed between the two countries and these communications and agreements will lead to the expansion of mutual cooperation in other areas of cooperation. 

“God willing, I will meet him (the Turkmen leader) in Ashgabat in the near future and we will follow up on what we have signed and operationalizing them,” Pezeshkian said.

He said the agreements signed between Iran and Turkmenistan are very strategic both countries can cooperate in other fields as well.
