ISLAMABAD: Following the European Parliament’s vote to list Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group, Tehran on Sunday warned Brussels (European Union) it would take “reciprocal” measures.

Taking to Twitter, Iran Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that the country’s parliament was taking steps to place elements within armies of European countries in its own terrorist list.

Iran to reciprocate move by making its own terror list

Wednesday’s vote in the European Parliament came as the result of Iran’s supply of drones to Russia, and its repression of protesters along with its activities of terrorism.

Even though the vote is non-binding, foreign ministers of EU members are set to discuss how to tighten sanctions against Iran.

In a closed-door parliamentary session on Sunday, Iran’s FM  and IRGC chief Major General Hossein Salami attended and discussed how to respond to the European Parliament’s move.

Iran’s foreign minister stated that the European Parliament had “shot itself in the foot”.
