TEHRAN, Iran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stern warning to the U.S. over its alleged knowledge of Israel’s planned retaliatory strike against Iran. In a post on X, Araghchi suggested that anyone aware of Israel’s attack plans or supporting such actions would be held accountable for any resulting casualties.
His comments followed U.S. President Joe Biden’s acknowledgment that he had insight into Israel’s intentions but refused to share further details.
The escalating tensions stem from an Iranian ballistic missile attack on October 1, prompting Israel to prepare a significant response. Concerns grew when a pro-Iran Telegram channel leaked U.S. intelligence documents, suggesting Israel’s attack plans were compromised. The U.S. government is investigating the leak, with officials confirming the authenticity of the documents.
Experts, including former U.S. defence official Mick Mulroy, expressed concern over the breach, warning it could damage U.S.-Israeli relations and erode trust between the two nations. The leak has also stirred political discourse, with former U.S. President Donald Trump claiming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was disregarding Biden’s advice on handling the conflict.
This unfolding situation highlights growing uncertainty in the region, with both military and diplomatic repercussions at stake.
