TEHRAN: The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence has been conducting special meetings to evaluate potential domestic “unrest” in the event of an Israel attack on Iran, according to IranWire.
Retired intelligence officials are participating in these meetings to analyze the potential internal consequences of a potential Israeli military response.
IranWire said that members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are not present at these meetings.
These concerns stem from recent escalations in tensions, including direct threats made by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei against Israel.
Recent events, such as the April 1 attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus resulting in the deaths of seven Iranian military personnel, including senior commanders, have heightened the likelihood of an Iranian attack on Israeli interests.
Iran has attributed the attack to Israel, although Israel has not officially confirmed its involvement.
Following the Damascus attack, Khamenei pledged to retaliate against ‘the evil regime.’
Apprehensions about a broader conflict have prompted several airlines to suspend flights to Iran.
Furthermore, the Dutch embassy in Tehran has temporarily closed, and the French embassy has evacuated the families of its employees.
